Finding My Voice: Learning to Speak About The Mind Card™

Public speaking has never been something that came naturally to me. But as I drive today, practicing how to talk about The Mind Card™, I realize how much this journey has stretched me in the best ways. When I first started this nonprofit, I thought the mission alone, affordable access to mental healthcare, would be enough for people to instantly rally behind. I thought the need spoke for itself.

But what I’ve learned along the way is that belief doesn’t happen automatically. Trust is built.

People need to see more than a good idea, they need to see how it works, how it helps, and how it changes real lives. They need transparency, consistency, and proof that The Mind Card is more than words on a website; it’s something they can feel working in their own community.

That’s why every donation matters so much. One Mind Card equals six therapy sessions. Each session receives $50 toward the cost, meaning every Mind Card represents a $300 investment in someone’s ability to begin or continue therapy.

When you donate, you’re helping someone finally sit across from a therapist and say, “I’m ready.” You’re helping a parent, a student, or a neighbor, who’s been holding it all together quietly, take a step toward healing.

And that takes all of us. It takes showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable. It takes learning to speak about the mission not just from the heart, but with clarity and courage, because this work deserves a voice.

So today, as I stumble through my words and rework my sentences, I’m reminded that growth doesn’t happen in perfection, it happens in motion. Every awkward pause, every attempt to explain what The Mind Card is and why it matters, is another step toward making mental health support something everyone can access and understand.

This is what building trust looks like- one conversation, one card, and one voice at a time.
